Neutonic Focus Pouches Review: An Honest Take From a Rival
In 30 Seconds
Neutonic Focus Pouches are nicotine free nootropic pouches from the productivity brand founded by Chris Williamson and James Smith. Each pouch delivers 50mg of natural caffeine, 125mg of Cognizin citicoline and three B vitamins, in one Fresh Mint flavour, at 26.99 pounds for five pucks of 20. They are a well made, lightly dosed entry into caffeine pouches. If you want more per pouch, Red On caffeine pouches carry 200mg of caffeine and 50mg of beta alanine, four times Neutonic's caffeine per pouch, for 9.99 pounds a tin.
Yes, We Sell a Competing Product
Let's get the obvious out of the way. This review is written by Contact Coffee Co, and we make Red On caffeine pouches, a direct competitor to the product reviewed here. You should read everything below with that in mind. What we promise in return is that every number in this article comes from Neutonic's own product pages or independent coverage, every comparison is stated with the source, and where Neutonic does something well we say so plainly. An honest review of a rival is more useful to you than a fake neutral one, and easier to check.
Red On! Caffeine Pouches are in stock. 200mg caffeine and 50mg beta alanine per pouch, the strongest 200mg tier on the UK market and the only UK caffeine pouch with beta alanine. Coffee or Arctic Mint. 9.99 pounds a tin.
What Neutonic Focus Pouches Actually Are
Neutonic launched in late 2023 as a productivity drink brand built by podcaster Chris Williamson and fitness coach James Smith, alongside co-founders Luke Betts and Shan Hanif. The drink established the brand, and the range has since expanded into capsules, creatine sachets and, from April 2026, Focus Pouches. The company is scaling fast: in April 2026 The Grocer reported a funding raise valuing Neutonic at 60 million dollars, earmarked for UK, US and Australian expansion.
A Focus Pouch works like a nicotine pouch without the nicotine. You place it between your upper lip and gum, leave it for 15 to 30 minutes while the actives absorb, then bin it. Each puck holds 20 pouches, they come in packs of five pucks, and the single flavour is Fresh Mint. Neutonic recommends a maximum of four pouches a day.
The Formula: What Is in Each Pouch
Per pouch, Neutonic lists 50mg of natural caffeine, 125mg of Cognizin, and 25 percent of your reference intake of vitamins B5, B9 (folate) and B12. Cognizin is a patented, research backed form of citicoline, a compound studied for attention and cognitive function. At the maximum four pouches a day you would reach 200mg of caffeine, 500mg of Cognizin and 100 percent of the three B vitamins.
Credit where due: 500mg is the citicoline dose used in clinical research, so a full day of four pouches gets you to a meaningful Cognizin intake, and Cognizin itself is a quality ingredient with human trials behind it. The catch is the per pouch maths. One pouch carries a quarter of that, and 50mg of caffeine is half a cup of coffee. If you use pouches the way most people actually do, one when you need to switch on, the single pouch dose is what matters, and Neutonic's single pouch is light. For context, an entire day of four Neutonic pouches delivers the same caffeine as one Red On pouch.
Price Per Pouch
Focus Pouches cost 26.99 pounds for five pucks of 20, which is 100 pouches, or about 27p per pouch. That is genuinely decent value for the category and cheaper per pouch than most UK rivals at their entry size. The friction is the entry point: your first purchase is a 26.99 pound commitment to a single mint flavour you have never tried. There is no single tin option at the time of writing.
What They Get Right
Three things stand out. First, the format decision is correct: swapping nicotine for caffeine and a nootropic keeps the instant, discreet delivery people like about pouches without the addiction baggage. Second, Cognizin is a properly researched ingredient, not label decoration. Third, the brand execution is excellent. Neutonic's marketing reach through the founders' audiences is the best in the category, and the product itself is cleanly presented, zero sugar and nicotine free.
Where They Fall Short
The single pouch dose is the main gap. 50mg of caffeine and 125mg of Cognizin per pouch means the advertised clinical intake only arrives if you commit to four pouches across the day. There is nothing in the formula for physical output. One flavour limits it further: Fresh Mint is safe, but a caffeine product that tastes of coffee is conspicuously absent from a company whose customers are replacing coffee. And the 26.99 pound minimum basket makes trial expensive.
Does Neutonic Actually Work?
Yes, within the limits of its dose. Caffeine is the most researched performance compound in sports nutrition and 50mg will produce a mild, noticeable lift, roughly half a cup of coffee's worth. Cognizin citicoline has genuine human research behind it at 500mg a day, an intake Neutonic only reaches if you use the full four pouches. So a single pouch works as a gentle pick me up, and the researched cognitive dose requires committing to the daily maximum.
Is Neutonic any good, then? Our honest answer as a rival: yes, with a caveat. It is a cleanly made, nicotine free product from a brand that executes brilliantly, built on a genuinely researched ingredient. The caveat is strength. If you want one pouch to actually hit, 50mg is one of the lightest doses in the UK category, and that is the gap Red On exists to fill.
Where to Buy Neutonic in the UK
Neutonic has pushed hard into retail through 2026. The drink is stocked in around 500 Morrisons Daily convenience stores, a listing that came through a collaboration with Grenade, alongside Ocado, Booths, Motor Fuel Group forecourts and gym chains including Fitness First and Everlast Gyms. Their own store locator lists stockists near you.
The Focus Pouches are a different story. At the time of writing the retail listings above cover the drink, and the pouches are sold primarily direct from neutonic.com. Red On pouches ship the same way, direct from our own store, in stock now.
Neutonic vs Red On: The Honest Comparison
Red On caffeine pouches are our answer to the same question, built for a heavier user. Each Red On pouch carries 200mg of caffeine and 50mg of beta alanine. That is four times Neutonic's caffeine per pouch, matching the strongest 200mg tier on the UK market, with beta alanine included for training sessions. A tin of 20 costs 9.99 pounds, so you can trial the format for around a third of Neutonic's entry price, and it comes in Coffee as well as Arctic Mint. A single serving is one pouch, and the daily maximum is two, which puts a full Red On day at the same 400mg total that most healthy-adult caffeine guidance uses as the ceiling.
Being straight about the trade offs both ways: Neutonic's Cognizin is a patented branded ingredient with a strong research file, and there is no cognitive ingredient beyond caffeine in a Red On pouch. Our 50mg of beta alanine is a stacking dose rather than the full clinical dose used in single ingredient studies, and we say so on the pillar page too. If your priority is citicoline specifically and you are happy committing to four mint pouches a day, Neutonic is a reasonable buy. If you want one pouch to actually hit, a coffee flavour option, and a 9.99 pound way in, that is exactly what Red On was built for: the strength play, from a veteran owned coffee company that has been serving caffeine to the military community for years.
Our Dosing View, Field Tested Over 100 Miles
One more reason we bang the drum on per pouch strength. In July 2026 our co-founder Luke Dalton ran the GB Ultras Beacons Way 100, 103 miles and over 22,000 feet of climb across the Brecon Beacons in 36 hours, using Red On pouches as his primary caffeine source instead of gels. A pouch that still works at mile 80 of an ultra is a pouch that works at 3pm at your desk. The full story of what worked and what hurt is in his Beacons Way 100 race report. That is the use case the 200mg dose was built for, and it is a test no desk focused formula has been put through.
Who Should Buy Which
Buy Neutonic Focus Pouches if you are already in the Neutonic ecosystem, you want a branded citicoline product, and a gentle 50mg per pouch suits you. Buy Red On if you want four times the caffeine per pouch, you prefer a coffee flavour, you train and want the beta alanine, or you simply want to try caffeine pouches without spending 27 pounds. Browse the caffeine pouches collection to see both Red On flavours, and if you are still weighing the whole category up, our caffeine pouches UK guide covers how pouches work, absorption, safety and the full UK market.
Try the strong one. Red On: four times the caffeine per pouch, 200mg plus 50mg beta alanine, and a 9.99 pound tin to start.

Does Neutonic actually work?
The ingredients are real and the caffeine will give you a mild lift, but the single pouch dose is light. One pouch delivers 50mg of caffeine and 125mg of Cognizin, while the researched 500mg citicoline intake requires the full four pouches a day. It works as a gentle pick me up rather than a strong hit.
Is Neutonic any good?
As a rival brand our honest answer is yes, with a caveat. It is a cleanly made, nicotine free pouch from a brand that executes well, and Cognizin is a properly researched ingredient. The caveat is strength: at 50mg of caffeine per pouch it is one of the lightest doses in the UK category.

Keep total daily caffeine from all sources under the 400mg widely cited for healthy adults, and avoid them if you are pregnant, sensitive to caffeine or under 18.
