The confirmed facts, in one place

The internet produces more GTA 6 rumour per day than Rockstar has produced announcements in three years, so here is the short list of things that are actually confirmed by Rockstar, its parent company Take-Two Interactive, or the platform stores taking your money.

The release date is 19 November 2026, a Thursday. The launch platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, and nothing else: there is no PS4, Xbox One, Switch or PC version at launch. Pre-orders have been live since 25 June 2026, announced by Take-Two the day before, in two editions, Standard and Ultimate. The game returns to Vice City with two playable leads, Lucia and Jason. Everything beyond that, from unlock times to map size claims, is either unannounced or unverified.

What is confirmed about the game itself

Rockstar has kept the drip feed slow, but the fundamentals are public. GTA 6 returns the series to Vice City, the fictional Miami, inside the wider state of Leonida, and for the first time in a mainline GTA there are two playable leads, Lucia and Jason, a couple whose story fronts every trailer so far. The reveal material lives on Rockstar Newswire, from the first trailer in December 2023 through the extended look Rockstar published in the summer of 2026. How we got to 19 November 2026

The date on the box is the third one Rockstar has given. When the first trailer landed in December 2023 the game was slated for 2025. In May 2025 Rockstar moved it to 26 May 2026, and in November 2025 it moved once more, to 19 November 2026, a delay covered at the time by Variety and TechRadar.

Two delays sounds bad until you notice what has happened since: nothing. The November date has now held for ten months, pre-orders are live against it, the platform stores carry it, and Take-Two has publicly backed it at every opportunity through 2026. Dates that are about to move do not usually get a pre-order campaign and a marketing ramp built on top of them.

Will it slip again?

Nobody outside Rockstar can promise you a release date, and this page will not pretend to. What can be said is that every public signal points to the date holding. Take-Two leadership has repeatedly reaffirmed 19 November 2026 in interviews and earnings calls, pre-orders and cover art shipped in June, and the marketing machine is spinning up on schedule. The things that usually precede a delay, silence and slipped marketing beats, are absent.

One more habit worth building before launch: ignore the leak economy entirely. GTA 6 has been leaked at and picked over for years, the fabrications now outnumber the real material, and the safest single rule is that news is only news when Rockstar Newswire carries it. Platforms, and the PC question

GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S only. Rockstar is launching on consoles first and has not announced a PC release date at all. That stings if you main a PC, but it is consistent with how Rockstar has always shipped: GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 both reached PC well after their console debuts. History says a PC version comes, eventually, with no date you can plan around.

There is also no version for the older consoles. If you are still on a PS4 or Xbox One, launch day for you means new hardware or patience.

Pre-orders, editions and the price panic

Pre-orders opened on 25 June 2026 through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store and participating retailers, in a Standard Edition and an Ultimate Edition. Before that announcement, the loudest rumour in the whole cycle was price: analysts floating the idea of the first 100 dollar game, and social media running with 200 dollars. The editions Rockstar actually announced came in far below the panic figure. UK pricing depends on the edition and the store, so check the live listing on your console rather than a screenshot from a forum.

One practical note for UK buyers: launch is five weeks before Christmas. Physical copies and console bundles will be squeezed by the biggest gift window of the year, so if a copy is doubling as a present this year, buying it early beats fighting the December rush.

The countdown, and how to run it

From today, 5 September 2026, there are 75 days to launch. The road here is easy to recap: first trailer in December 2023 with a 2025 window, the move to 26 May 2026 announced in May 2025, the move to 19 November 2026 announced that November, then pre-orders and cover art on 25 June 2026 and an extended look at the game over the summer.
